Schneider (45 saves) shines, but Canucks fall
Posted in Hockey, Marblehead on Nov 6th, 2009 Comments
Goaltender Cory Schneider, making his first NHL start of the season, was brilliant in stopping 45 shots by the Dallas Stars last night at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas.
Unfortunately, his Vancouver Canucks teammates — playing the second of back-to-back games and for the ninth time in the last 14 days — could only score [...]

Intent on proving it’s a serious contender in 2009, Marblehead faces its first test against one of the Northeastern Conference’s big boys when Lynn Classical comes to Piper Field (7 p.m.). [...]

What is the attitude going to be like?
Say what you will about Doug Chernovetz, the deposed Magicians coach, but his teams were drilled and disciplined. Is new coach Jim Rudloff going to be able to create the same atmosphere and work ethic?

QBs to watch in 2009: Hayes Richardson, Marblehead

Marblehead’s first winning season in ages last year was a credit to junior signal caller Hayes Richardson, who was 5-2 as a starting quarterback.
It also could have been more if Richardson hadn’t been among the group of Magicians suspended for attending a party where there was underage drinking going on.
Such is the duality of Richardson [...]
Each day that passes makes it look more and more like its going to be a very interesting summer for Marblehead native Cory Schneider.
The Vancouver Canucks today signed former Boston Bruins sieve Andrew Raycroft, presumably meaning the Rayzor will back-up All-World netminder Roberto Luongo - not Schneider.
So where does Schneider, who led his Manitoba Moose [...]
Taylor Callahan of Marblehead, a freshman at Fairfield University in Connecticut, has been named to the Division 1 National Field Hockey Coaches (NFHCA) All-Academic Team.
Callahan, one of eight Fairfield players named ot the NFHCA squad, had one assist in a dozen games for the Stags last fall.
