At this hour, the House and Senate are both underway as legislators prepare to be sworn in and elect leaders.
Legislators’ spouses and children are roaming the State House, packing into chamber galleries, and huddling around TVs set up around the building.
Newly elected State Treasurer Steve Grossman and State Auditor Suzanne Bump are here, as well.
The North Shore delegation has a busy day:
- State Sen. Fred Berry is currently presiding over the Senate. Gov. Deval Patrick is standing next to him administering the oath to the senators.
- State Rep. Jerry Parisella will soon be sworn in as a freshman lawmaker.
- State Sen. Bruce Tarr is expected to be elected Senate Minority Leader, replacing outgoing state Sen. Richard Tisei.
