David Olson has been editor of The Salem News since April 2006.
He began his 17-year career as an intern with the News’ sister paper, the Gloucester Daily Times, earning several awards as the paper’s waterfront reporter before becoming city editor and, in 2005, editor.
He has also worked as a reporter and editor at the Middletown Times Herald-Record, winning national awards for education reporting; as Massachusetts Statehouse bureau chief for Essex County Newspapers and The Eagle-Tribune; and as a metro editor and night editor for The Salem News.
A graduate of the University of New Hampshire, he lives in Gloucester with his wife, Deborah, and son, Lucas.
