The Topeka Capital-Journal has a story about a ceremony honoring the 53 soldiers from Fort Riley who have been killed in Iraq or Afghanistan.
One of those soldiers was Stephen Fortunato of Beverly. His father, Richard, is quoted in the story.

There should be an interesting meeting at the library tonight when State Rep. Mary Grant speaks to Citizens for Fiscal Responsibility, the group that opposed last year’s proposed override. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Remember Brother’s Restaurant (and the Wednesday soup special)? This is all that remains after workers this morning demolished the former restaurant, which was located in the plaza on Rantoul Street for 25 years. The demolition was the latest on that corner to make way the new CVS, which is sheduled to open in January.
If case you hadn’t noticed, the parking lot at this business on Brimbal Avenue has been empty for awhile. Tokyo Electron Massachusetts was a part of Tokyo Electron, a worldwide semiconductor equipment maker based in Japan.
A spokeswoman for the company said Tokyo Electron closed the Beverly office in February due to “market conditions.” The 50 [...]
