You might’ve noticed another one of those “Got Books?” containers has cropped up in the parking lot at Dawson’s Hardware. The donated books will benefit Harborlight Community Partners, the agency that runs Turtle Creek, Turtle Woods and Harborlight House Assisted Living.
Here’s the full press release from “Got Books?”:
Want to get rid of your used books? Harborlight Community Partners of Beverly is raising money through donations of new and used books, CDs, DVDs, videos, and audio books. The group has recently placed a drop-off donation container to collect these items from community members who’d like to repurpose their used goods while also helping the group raise money. The group will be paid on an ongoing basis for all items collected in their donation container.
Harborlight Community Partners provides housing and services primarily for low and moderate income people living in southern Essex County. They currently operate over 200 units of affordable housing at Turtle Creek, Turtle Woods, and Harborlight House Assisted Living.
The gray book donation container, distinguished by its purple and yellow ‘Got Books?’ signs, is located in the parking lot of Dawson’s Hardware at 50 Enon Street in North Beverly. This program is an ongoing fundraiser and donations can be made by the public at any time. All funds raised through the collection of these donations will benefit Harborlight Community Partners.
Choose to reuse! Donating books and more at this location is a great way to help a local group raise money and a great way to keep books out of the trash. In addition to helping raise money for this group, these donated goods will be repurposed in great ways; they could be donated to schools, libraries, and other groups in need, sent overseas to the troops, given to teachers for their classrooms, or sold in book sales and online.
