Kris Silverstein has taken out nomination papers to run for Ward 3 School Committee, the seat that is opening up with current Ward 3 School Committee member Jim Latter’s run for Ward 3 City Council.

School Committee member Jim Latter has just announced that he is running for Ward 3 city councilor, the position being vacated by John Burke due to his run for mayor.
Latter becomes the second council candidate in Ward 3, joining Colgate Road resident Jim Modugno.

Pat Grimes is holding her re-election campaign kick-off tonight from 6 to 8 at the Cove Community Center. The event will “focus on Beverly’s children and what our city has to offer families,” according to a press release.
Grimes is one of five candidates so far for the three at-large seats.

The proposal to build a regional dispatch center in Middleton has gotten a lot of discussion in surrounding towns lately. The subject is due to come up soon in Beverly, said Mayor Scanlon.
Scanlon is a strong supporter of the regional center.

The deadline for city employees who want to file for early retirement has been extended until tomorrow at 1 p.m. The city is offering a $10,000 incentive for employees to retire early in an effort to trim payroll costs. Mayor Scanlon said 11 people had applied as of Tuesday.

Colgate Road resident Jim Modugno has announced that he will run for John Burke’s Ward 3 City Council seat. Burke announced earlier this week that he is running for mayor.
