City Councilor John Burke just reported in from sunny Fort Myers, Fla., where he’s taking in today’s Red Sox spring training game and noticed the words “Beverly, MA” scrolling across the scoreboard, accompanied by an advertisement for Moynihan Lumber.
“Small world,” Burke said.

Our story  the other day on how much communities have spent this year for snow removal didn’t include Beverly’s numbers, so here they are, courtesy of Finance Director John Dunn:
The city has spent $944,136 as of today, well over the $386,200 that was set aside in the budget.

Tonight’s City Council meeting has been canceled due to the storm. The Planning Board meeting, however, is still on. The board will continue its public hearing on the  CVS proposed for the corner of Rantoul and Elliott streets. The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the library.
